Basic Stringing and Tassels

Tassel Design Necklace

Tools Required:
Crimping Pliers
Round Nose Pliers
Flat/Chain Nose Pliers
Side Cutters
Bead Matt

Tips:
Make sure the number of strands of jewellery wire to be used will pass easily through the "locking bead/s". Smaller beads need to be used either side of the "locking bead/s".

Products:
Crimp Beads, Jewellery Wire, French Wire/Bullion or Wire Guardians
"Locking Bead/s"
Beads
Head Pins

Method:

STEP 1. Make two drops using the Wire Wrapped Loop technique with beads on headpins.

STEP 2.Thread the beads onto jewellery wire starting from the back and including the "locking bead/s" and beads for the tassel. Attach one of the drops using a necklace finishing technique, eg Basic Stringing and Tassels - Finishing With Crimps.

STEP 3. Slide the beads back towards to the finished end making sure the tail has been threaded through last few beads.

STEP 4. Cut the wire 10cm from the last bead and secure with a creation keeper.

STEP 5. Thread the second side of the necklace the same as the first. Do not forget to re-thread strands through the "locking bead/s". Finish in the same way as the first strand. In this style of necklace individual strands are not completed as you work so that re-thread through the "locking bead/s" is easier.

STEP 6. Finish the necklace by attaching the strands to the clasp using a necklace finishing technique. Make sure to tension each strand correctly, leaving no gaps between the beads.

Double/Multiple strand variations can be made using these instructions.
